Canyoneering is the art of navigating slot canyons using a combination of hiking, scrambling, rappelling, swimming, and problem-solving. Utah's Zion National Park is the epicenter — The Subway and Mystery Canyon are bucket-list routes. Moab, Capitol Reef, and Arizona's Havasupai offer equally stunning terrain. Guided intro courses teach rappelling, anchor assessment, and flash flood awareness. No prior climbing experience needed for beginner canyons, but you need to be comfortable getting wet, cold, and committed to a one-way route.
