CrossFit Open
What it takes
The CrossFit Open is the world's largest participatory fitness competition — a 3-week annual throwdown held every February-March where 300,000+ athletes worldwide tackle the same workouts and compare scores on a global leaderboard. Each week a new workout is announced on Thursday and athletes have until Monday to complete and submit their score. Workouts blend gymnastics (pull-ups, toes-to-bar, handstand walks), weightlifting (cleans, snatches, thrusters), and cardio (rowing, double-unders, running) in constantly varied combinations. Every workout has a Scaled division for newer athletes and an Rx division for competitors. You can do it at any CrossFit affiliate gym or in a home gym — all you need is the equipment and a judge.
Injury Prevention for This Adventure
These are the most common injuries for strength athletes over 50. A few minutes of targeted prehab each week can keep you on track.
