Extreme Ultra (100mi+)
The world's most demanding foot races: UTMB (171K around Mont Blanc), Hardrock 100 (33,000ft of climbing), Barkley Marathons (unmapped, 60-hour cutoff, ~15 finishers ever), Moab 240, Marathon des Sables (6 days across the Sahara), and Dragon's Back Race (5 days across Wales). These require multi-year qualification journeys and represent the pinnacle of human endurance. Over 50% of finishers at most extreme ultras are over 40.
