What it takes
Earn your PADI Open Water Diver certification — the world's most recognised scuba credential and your passport to diving anywhere on the planet. The course covers classroom theory (or eLearning), confined water sessions to master mask clearing, buoyancy control, and emergency procedures, then four open water evaluation dives. You must demonstrate a 200m (660 ft) surface swim and 10-minute tread. Once certified, you're cleared to dive to 18m (60 ft) with a buddy worldwide.
Injury Prevention for This Adventure
These are the most common injuries for water athletes over 50. A few minutes of targeted prehab each week can keep you on track.
