Rottnest Channel Swim (Perth, Australia)

19.7 km (12.2 mi) open water swim from Cottesloe Beach to Rottnest Island. Australia's premier marathon swim draws over 2,500 solo and team swimmers every February. Warm Indian Ocean water, dolphins alongside, and massive community participation make this the southern hemisphere's answer to the English Channel. Solo swimmers typically finish in 6-10 hours. One of the few marathon swims where conditions are genuinely pleasant.
